Summer Reading Program

Storytime is a wonderful way to encourage a love of reading among children. Parents can also benefit from storytime, as they learn new ways to share stories with their children. Our storytimes are interactive, using puppets, fngerplays, songs and other activities to enhance a child’s storytime experience. Storytime is offered weekly at each branch for children ages 3-6 and usually lasts approximately 45 minutes. Check with your local library branch or our calendar for times, dates and weekly themes.

Here are some suggestions to make storytime an enjoyable experience for everyone.

  • Please arrive a few minutes early to receive name tags, use the restroom and get settled.
  • Please keep personal belongings and books put away, unless asked otherwise.
  • Keep in mind this is a new experience for your child and it may take a few visits before they are comfortable staying and participating in storytime.
  • If your child is being disruptive, quietly remove them from storytime and return only when they are ready to listen.
  • Please be considerate of others and keep your cell phone on silent during storytime. If you must take a call, quietly step outside.
  • Last but not least, children follow by example. If you listen to the stories and participate in the activities, they are likely to as well.
